Bowen has dedicated a large number of 1:6 statues to Wolverine, both in static and dynamic poses, often keeping some established sculpt and simply changing few sculptural details and/or painting. The Original Action Statue, in fact, exhibits the same sculpt of two other action pieces of the catalogue (the Classic and the Unmasked), from which it differs only for the head of the character and the color tones. Sculpted by Randy Bowen and released in 2008 with an edition size of 1250 samples, the statue depicts the mutant in his more classic yellow-blue costume with black pointed patches, in the act of a prodigious leap, the claws unsheathed and ready to strike. The perfect sculpt of the muscles and the dynamism of the pose represent the strengths of this piece. The physique exhibits excellent proportions, with the chest open to highlight the hyper-defined pectorals and abdominals and the muscles of legs and arms tense beyond belief. Wherever the muscle contours are enhanced by shades of color, just sketched (in a darker yellow) on the back and belly, and much more marked on the arms, where the typical and accentuated down of Logan is reproduced with slight, but noticeable, color brush strokes. The color tonalities are very bright, while the chromatic contrast of the background yellow with the black patches of the costume and the red belt at the waist provides a visual impact of the first order. Even the adamantium claws on both hands appear carefully crafted and well-proportioned. The face is very expressive: the wide open mouth and the wide eyes give the figure the most appropriate semblance and an expression of furious angry. The base is simple and functional to posture, with a high and dried trunk resting on a elliptical platform. Ultimately, a beautiful, very dynamic statue and a worthy representation of one of the most fascinating Marvel superheroes.
